MSPs give SPT positive report card
December, 2009
A third of Scottish politicians speak highly of SPT, according to an independent annual survey.
A poll of MSPs found that 32% would give SPT a positive report, compared to just 7% who said they would be critical of the organisation.
Of that 32% positive, 40% were members of the opposition while 20% were Government MSPs.
The survey, carried out by Ipsos Mori, helps public and private sector organisations like SPT understand their profile and reputation in the Scottish Parliament.
It provides feedback directly from politicians on what makes for good relations, the criteria they use in making judgments about organisations and issues being raised by their constituents.
A total of 73 out of 129 MSPs were questioned - 25 SNP members, 28 Labour, 11 Conservative, 7 Lib Dems and 5 others.
SPT Chair Alistair Watson said: “The results of this survey show that SPT has been given a generally positive report card by MSPs across the political spectrum.
“However, we are not complacent and we will certainly take any criticism on board to ensure that we continue to improve both our services and our reputation.”
He added: “One thing this survey highlighted in particular was the 60% of politicians who had a neutral opinion of SPT and we would hope to turn a good number of them into positives by the time they are resurveyed next year.”
