"SPT's tough stance on reducing carbon emissions shows that actions can speak louder than words." That's the ringing endorsement from Gordon Archer of Carbon Accountable - the organisation helping SPT reduce its environmental impact.
Speaking to SPT Express, Gordon said that cutting carbon is a journey - not an event. He went on: "It's encouraging to see a large organisation like SPT commit to reducing its environmental impact, and I hope that other businesses across the country will follow their lead."
Carbon Accountable is putting together a customised carbon plan for SPT which consists of a 'carbon reduction target' and a series of measures to help the transport partnership reach it. The target - which Gordon Archer says will be 'challenging yet realistic' - will also need to be met by an agreed future date.
If you want to find out more, the Carbon Accountable website lets visitors calculate the emissions of their typical journeys. It also lets them compare the environmental effects of different modes of transport, including different types of car. It might make you think twice the next time you reach for your car keys.
